South for the holiday vibes

I feel a desperate need to pick up blogging. I mean, I just hate to see the fact the most of my photos get rotten in the camera roll, forgotten by time and lost when my phone goes broken.

I’d always like to keep a record of my life to see how at least the narrative is consistent. I’ve spent probably one of my most pleasing winters in life down in London with friends. It’s the only semester that two of my favorite will be able to stay with me in the same country.

I was snuggling in bed with wyw and watching NHK紅白歌合戦 the first night I arrived, and that’s how we missed new year eve’s countdown and fireworks.

the second day we went to tate modern, or the third. I can’t really remember, Alzheimer is haunting me.

we had brunch at Granger&Co. Kings Cross

I kept tali’s company to buy some living essentials. (new name I got her, but it’s actually her school mail’s name) London was extremely cold when we were there.

Piccadilly circus during Christmas was just amazing. There was a street singer singing Ed sheeran with heavenly voice(not exaggerating) and the next day he was singing hallelujah.

Individual cinema that has regular indie films on screen, also has a cafe where you can borrow films. wyw took me here just for loo. It should be somewhere near bricklane but i’ve forgotten the name.

I remember! close-up cinema

they also provide film courses

nude coffee roaster (on Hanbury St) has got good looking staff. DO NOT MISS IT. I ate sausage roll there because i was starved for not having breakfast, for the taste solely ill give (2.5 or 3)/5.

we stopped in a bookshop for almost an hour but To be honest i don’t really like their book selection. You can basically find anything that meets your expectation here cuz it’s the mix-pot of all the best sellers. But i’m looking for something more personalized. I found one of the most interesting parts of digging in a bookstore is to discover the owner’s taste. I’m always looking for an owner with very distinct preference and good taste so that i can be inspired rather than doing the same as I can do online.

However, it does give some home decorating ideas, such as these cozy corners with warm yellow lights in the walls of bookshelves, and the use of mirror reflection that makes space seem a lot larger than it actually is.

also you can find quite a lot of vintage clothing stores in that area. We stopped by two and the price in both of them was really reasonable while there were also great deals during the new year.I got a cactus for tali’s new dorm and some brooches,  wyw got more. There were some common vintage pieces but there also were some self- designed and made vintage jackets, in the same style as those you see in Harajuku.

you take a million photos and only one is satisfying. This time we were both not prepared. my hair somehow looks like a midcentury witch’s or a gypsy soothsayer’s.

at electric cinema shoreditch. wyw ordered baked broccoli which she said was good but I didn’t have the courage to taste. Generally, I’m not a fan of popcorn, but they sell popcorn snacks of bacon and sweet syrup flavor and I just immediately fell in love with it.

vintage shop role play: 60s rock star

one thing in England: you always have the good taste background music to dance to

what you do if you are an american and eat fish&chips properly for the first time at the poppies

some additions: we also went to the hyde park’s winter wonderland and won a GIANT toblerone from roulette, and we only had one bet! with 4 pounds we got 57 pounds of chocolate in turn.

wyw being swallowed up by  a giant marshmallow  (my favorite scene of that night)

Earlier that day we went to see the new year day parade but ended up shopping and wandering around oxford circus.  Just too many people there blocking the sight.

For my last dinner in London we went to the dishroom. Tania and I were searching for Indian food for the past three days and we were supposed to go to the dishroom a day before but it turned out that we had to wait for at least an hour to dine inside. But we managed to eat there eventually though after an hour of waiting. The food was good. We recommend ordering three dishes of naan and another dish of meat like chicken curry.

I don’t have any photos taken inside the restaurant. It was dim and cool with candles flickering but I took the photos with my film camera that actually has no film in it.(cuz I am a fool)

However, after the meal, we did take some selfies on the bridge walking back.

you can’t tell how much i love London
